Do you belong to “People Person”? Many people claim to be People Person simply because they agree with the statement: “man is the most important asset”. However, we often see the claim as limited to the lips only, the reality can be much different. Well, then how can we differentiate a People Person? Let’s dive deeper into it!

What is a People Person?

According to the Cambridge Dictionary, a people person is a friendly person and likes to meet and talk to people. People with this trait tend to have rapid career development. He tends to be promoted faster at work, lead a more active social life, and be happier in general.

Here are some signs that you are a People Person:

1. Good at Greeting Others
People with people person traits will smile when greeting you. That smile gave off a warm feeling and wanted to do the same. Another sign is when shaking hands. People with this trait will handle hands by cupping the other person’s hand with both hands. A handshake like this conveys a warm feeling that people like. This is a common way of greeting someone, so it’s not memorable. However, it’s best to shake hands like this in informal situations. Do not do this handshake in a formal situation such as meetings or job interviews.

2. Be an Active Listener
An important aspect of communication is listening. Unfortunately, many people listen partially and just wait their turn to speak. On the other hand, people with a people person nature will really focus on you when you are actively talking and listening. when listening to someone speak, he doesn’t just focus on listening. He will also enjoy the conversation.

3. Humble Attitude
Generally, people don’t like someone who is constantly boasting. People like to see a person’s heart which shows that it is human. Humility, which is a heart about self-deprecation and self-obligation. Humility is acknowledging the worth of others and being attracted to someone other than yourself.

4. Able to Remember Important Things

LinkedIn says that nothing attracts people more to you than a good personality. A great personality is key to everything when it comes to dealing with other people. In the world of work, recruiters will also look for people who have a better attitude, are more likable, and have a more positive effect on those around them. To become a people person, the first thing to consider is your personality. Show a good personality to everyone you meet.

2. Avoid monotonous responses
Instead of following a monotonous question-and-answer sequence, try to actually answer it how you feel. As a people person, try to give a response that seems more personal. If someone asks how you’re doing, you can say, “Actually, I’m feeling really good today. Yesterday my favorite football club won the game. So, today I feel excited.” You may get follow-up questions from this response. However, it can be a conversation starter if you really want to talk to someone.

3. Shut up and listen
One of the annoying things in a conversation is seen when you interrupt the conversation before the other person has finished speaking. This shows that you are not listening, but are thinking about how to respond. People with the nature of the people person is the opposite. So, try to be mindful in speaking and responsive in discussions.

4. Pay attention to your tone of voice
If you don’t think pitch or voice modulation is important, see if you can tell the difference between these two statements: “I can’t believe you did it!” and “I can’t believe you did that!” Notice the difference? These two sentences express surprise. However, the first sentence seems more praising while the last sentence seems more condescending. It’s not about what you say, but how you say it.
